Provisional tax is paid twice a year (end of August and end of February). It is based on your estimated taxable income for the year.
What expenses are tax deductible for my business?
Deductible expenses include costs that are directly related to earning income, such as rent, salaries, office supplies, and certain travel expenses.

Late submissions or payments can result in penalties and interest. We help you stay on track and can also apply for remission where reasonable.

VAT registration becomes compulsory when your turnover exceeds R1 million in a 12-month period. You may also register voluntarily if above R50,000 turnover.

What is the difference between PAYE, UIF, and SDL?
PAYE is tax withheld from employee salaries, UIF is a contribution towards unemployment insurance, and SDL is a levy for skills development.
What documents are required to clear goods through customs?

How long does the customs clearing process take?
Typically 1–3 working days, depending on the completeness of your documents and whether SARS selects your shipment for inspection.
What is an EDI system and how does it affect my shipments?
EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) is a SARS-linked system used to process customs clearances electronically, ensuring faster submissions and approvals.
Do I need an import/export license to trade internationally?
Yes, most businesses require an import/export license from SARS to trade legally across borders.
What are customs physical inspections and when do they happen?
SARS may select shipments for physical inspection to verify goods against declarations. This is a normal compliance measure.

Duties are based on the tariff classification of the goods, while VAT is calculated at 15% on the customs value plus duties.
Can you assist with shipping line or freight forwarder requirements?
Yes. We liaise with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and SARS on your behalf to ensure smooth clearance of your shipments.
